Looking for insights on how Bold Penguin is shaping the future of commercial business insurance quote solutions? In this month’s edition of our 3 Questions (and a Bonus) series, we sit down with Freddy Montano, Bold Penguin’s Chief Financial Officer, to explore his first impressions, vision for growth, and tips for cross-functional collaboration—in his own words, six months into the role.
The CFO always has a bird’s eye view, and we thought we’d peek into his perspective now that he’s had a chance to get a good look around.
One of my first impressions of Bold Penguin’s culture was speed. I was excited with how quickly we solve problems, move through stages of work, pivot with acceleration, and execute. Another impression was the dedication everyone has to each other, to the entire organization and to our shared mission of simplifying commercial business insurance quote solutions. As a result of our dynamic environment, growth opportunities arise quickly and organically. These opportunities range from special project work providing additional professional exposure, to enhancing a particular skill set, to promotional advancements — all of which contribute to keeping the best and brightest engaged and challenged.
What excites me most about Bold Penguin’s growth trajectory is the fact that we are just beginning to “scratch the surface.” Bold Penguin has strong relationships with almost every major broker and carrier in the commercial insurance space. As we continue to enhance our products, expand our commercial business insurance quote solution set, and deepen ties to the strategic goals of our clients, the sky is the limit!
The first tip I would have is to adopt a shift in mindset. Departments such as Finance, Human Resources, and Legal should be viewed as business partners, not as isolated support areas. Building relationships with key internal stakeholders is another tip I would employ, as it will yield dividends in understanding the strategic direction of the Product or Sales teams, thereby positioning us to be proactive and collaborative rather than reactive.
